For £25 a night we truly found a bargain in Samui Verticolor booked through hotels.com which includes a breakfast buffet (with an egg station)
This brightly coloured hotel offers double rooms and family rooms. Each day you get two bottles of water free, there is a large, clean swimming pool and kids pool with a pool bar that offers Cocktails for 90baht at Happy hour (they are delish!!) Room service is reasonable and enjoyable with dishes 179baht which includes those extra charges we all hate!
It's Located just off Chaweng Beach Road, if your a budget conscious traveler like me then this place will be perfect for you! I've actually paid more on the other islands for less!
They do offer limited housekeeping so don't expect anything special (fancy towel swans) but you will always come back to your room with your bed made and fresh towels!
So yes, book this hotel!! Find out the latest price HERE

Tip: if your checking out early on your final day don't forget to ask for a breakfast box to go the night before!
Anyway that's enough of our hotel..
There are a number of resorts to stay which offer pure luxury! Ko Samui really has it all its a mix of being perfect for your honeymoon destination, that bit of nightlife that you want (see Ark bar), food stalls and the most amazing seafood!
Ko Samui tips
1. Get a scooter and don't waste your cash on around the island tours! It's easy to see Wat Plai Laem (the most beautiful Buddhist temple I've seen in Thailand so far) and the Big Buddha. As well as traveling to the beautiful beaches & Fishermans village, Bophut. You can get a scooter for 24hours rent from 150baht, if you have want one for a few days make sure you bargain the price! Unfortunately they will want your passport as deposit although it's illegal to do that it's either that or giving them 5000baht deposit. Up to you! Remember to take photos/a video of the bike so when you give it back they can't try to charge you for scratches that the people five times before did... What a good money maker for them!
2. Visit Fishermans village, Bophut, a street of restaurants that's got something for everyone, whether you want Thai, Western.. Remember though Thai is always much cheaper! Visit "The Hut" our friends who lived in Ko Samui recommended this as the best Thai food! There's no beach view but most dishes are less than 100baht (to get here you just turn right once you enter the main entrance of Fishermans village - it's easy to understand what the main entrance is)
3. Take a trip to Ang Thong National Park, we went with Highsea Tour 1300baht each for 550baht more you can kayak also. Food included bread & marmalade tea/coffee for breakfast. Thai buffet for lunch including vegetarian option and a salad. Hike up to see the amazing view points. It's certainly worth doing because it is so beautiful, but bear in mind that you will spend a lot of time on the boat. We also got back really late, they told us 4:30pm, but we actually arrived back at 7:40pm.
4. Visit the numerous night markets and "food courts" this is what real Thailand is about right?? You can get Meat/seafood skewers starting from 40baht, those delicious corn on the cobs for 40baht or if you fancy buying a whole fish your looking at 150baht and up (size depends) there will literally be a stall here for all the family to be able to eat! The service is great everyone's so friendly, there's usually a band playing and to get you in the mood you have cocktail stands making anything and everything with plenty of alcohol for 70baht each. They make a mean Mojito and Strawberry Daquiri.
5. Head to the 'W Retreat'. its north on any of the free maps you get given. Not only is it beautiful and you can enjoy the private beach there, but on Mondays they do "Movie Mondays". They show a movie on a big screen on the beach, seating is their huge beanbags - so comfortable! They give out free popcorn but you will have to buy something, its around 120baht for a soft drink, more for beers and cocktails. It all starts at 8pm, but don't forget to book to reserve your bean bag.
